About Shenyang

Shenyang is the capital and largest city of China’s northeast Liaoning Province. It was the site of the 17th-century Manchu capital Mukden, and the imposing Mukden Palace (Shenyang Imperial Palace) is a blend of Manchurian and Tibetan architectural styles. About Shenyang Institute of Technology

Shenyang Institute of Technology is a government sponsored institute of higher learning approved by the National Ministry of Education. It was established by the merger of the Polytechnic School of Shenyang Ligong University and the Science and Technology School of Shenyang Agricultural University. Over the last decade, the Institute has continually applied the concepts of “practice is the core of learning”, energetic exploration into education reforms, and market-oriented principles which have formed a multidisciplinary institute with particular strengths in engineering, administration, economics, art, agriculture and etc. Through years of hard work and perseverance, the Institute has created more than thirty thousand graduates for the nation. As a result of national economic construction and social development, the Institute currently has 16,497 full-time undergraduate students enrolled across six departments: The School of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Information and Control, the School of Arts and Media, the School of Life Science, the School of Energy and Water Conservancy. In this new era filled with opportunities and challenges, faculties and students at Shenyang Institute of Technology will uphold the concept of “practice is the core of learning” as well as the school motto of “sincerity and honesty, diligent study and energetic work”, devoting our time and energy to further enhance the reputation of the Institute into a national institute with distinctive characteristics.

The institute is located in Shenfu New Town, Fushun, Liaoning Province. With an area of 179 acres and a three hundred thousand square meter building area, the Institute has two modern libraries, nine teaching buildings, eight comprehensive experiment centers, two indoor stadiums, four cafeterias and a student cultural and sports center. Both double-room and single room are available for international students. The campus enjoys convenient transportation and is surrounded by peaceful scenery with well-equipped facilities.

The Institute is consistently seeking the opportunity of international education cooperation. It has already established the partnership with universities and colleges of many countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Republic of Korea, Canada, Malaysia. We have introduced intensive international general education curriculum in overseas top universities combined with advanced professional knowledge in the teaching of several majors, such as Finance, Accounting, International Economy and Trade and Visual Communication Design. We lay great emphasis on the cultivation of students’ internationalized quality and intercultural communication skills by teaching in bilingual or English only or recruiting foreign experts.

Advantages

Affiliated with the Ministry of Education, Northeastern University is the only national key university in Shenyang, the birthplace of Qing Dynasty. In the vigorous university, students from all over the world gather together in the School of International Exchange to study.

School of International Exchange of Northeastern University is responsible for foreign student recruitment (including undergraduate students, master students and doctoral students), management, education and research of Chinese language. School of International Exchange has recruited foreign students since 1950s. There are over 40 faculty and administrative staff members. Over 4,000 students from more than 50 countries have been educated in our university for their degrees and cultural study. In recent years, with continuously enlarge number of foreign students and promotion of education level and quality, more and more foreign students have been recruited by our university. The proportion of degree students has also dramatically increased.

Through dozens of years’ development, School of International Exchange has accumulated rich experience in teaching content, method and management. It boasts a strong team of full time and part time faculty. It offers long and short term Chinese language classes meeting the demands of different levels of students (beginning, middle and high level). The School enrolls students from both Spring and Fall semesters. The School has many advantages for its high level teaching quality, such as small size classes, diversified language courses (e.g. Chinese intensive reading, listening, grammar, writing, reading, conversation, visual and audio classes, news Chinese, news listening and reading, economic and trade Chinese, science and technology Chinese, etc.), abundant Chinese cultural courses (e.g. survey of China, Chinese folk art, Taijiquan, martial art, etc.), colorful cultural experiencing activities (e.g. visiting Chinese families, museums, social investigation, travel, etc.), independent teaching buildings, 3 well-equipped dormitories, and strong cultural atmosphere in the surrounding areas. In 2007, School set up a Sino-South Korea Cultural Exchange Center with Kyungnam University. Since the establishment of degree program of Chinese language in 2010, the School has started to enroll foreign students in this program in 2011. The School has very high passing rate of HSK 6-8 exams and won several awards in Chinese speech contests organized by Liaoning Province and the country.
