About Jilin University

Jilin University is a national key comprehensive university under the direct administration of Ministry of Education in China. Located in Changchun, Jilin Province, the university was founded in 1946. In 1960, it was listed as a national key university. In 1984, it was one of the 22 universities initially granted the permission to admit postgraduates. In 1995, it became one of the first “Project 211” universities, as determined by the State Education Commission of China. In 2001, Jilin University was listed as one of the “Project 985” key construction universities. In 2004, it became one of the universities under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education of China. In 2017, it was rated as one of the universities for building world-class universities in the “Double World-class Initiative”.

In 2000, Jilin University merged with the former Jilin University of Technology, the former Norman Bethune University of Medical Sciences, the former Changchun University of Science and Technology, and the former Changchun Institute of Posts and Telecommunications. In 2004, the former University of Military Logistics also joined.

Jilin University offers a wide range of disciplines, within 52 colleges or schools, covering 12 academic categories, namely: philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medical science, management, and art. Among them, archaeology, mathematics, physics, chemistry, materials science and engineering, philosophy, law, mechanical and bionic engineering, electronic science and technology, geological resources and engineering, and one health are selected as “Double First-class” constructing disciplines according to the list released by Ministry of Education. JLU has 141 bachelor degree programs, 63 master degree programs, 49 doctoral degree programs, and 2 interdisciplinary doctoral programs. Our university is now home to five state key laboratories, 1 national engineering laboratory, 6 national-local joint laboratories, 1 national engineering and technology research center, 1 national animal experimental center, 4 international science and technology cooperation bases, 6 humanities and social science key research bases of the Ministry of Education, 12 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, 5 engineering research centers of the Ministry of Education, 1 joint laboratory of international cooperation of the Ministry of Education, 2 joint collaborative innovation centers, 1 field science observation station of the Ministry of Education, and 19 key laboratories of other ministries of China. Jilin University has undertaken a great number of research projects at both the national and the provincial level, generating considerable scientific achievements with good prospects for industrialization and high technical content.

We have established a high-level talent training system for the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. There are 72,830 full-time students, including 8,496 doctoral and 20,774 postgraduate students, 41,955 undergraduate students, and 1,605 overseas students.

About Lanzhou University

As the national comprehensive university under the direct authority of the Ministry of Education, Lanzhou University（LZU）is one of the universities supported by the “Project 985” and “Project 211”.

Founded in 1909, the predecessor of LZU was Gansu Law and Politics School, which marked the beginning of modern higher education in Gansu Province and pioneered higher education in the Northwest region. In 1928, Gansu Law and Politics School was expanded into Sun Yat-sen University of Lanzhou and in 1945, National Lanzhou University. About Northeastern University

Northeastern University (NEU) was founded on April 26, 1923. About Xi’an Jiaotong University

Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) is a key university under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education of China and is one of the oldest universities in China.

In the late 19thcentury, the last feudal government of China failed in the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, leading the whole nation into a great crisis. At that time, Sheng Xuanhuai, a famous industrialist and educator in modern China, established Nanyang College in 1896 at Shanghai, with the purpose of “promoting education for talents development so as to realize the nation’s rejuvenation”. In 1921, the college changed its name to Jiaotong University. By adhering to the university mission of “learning practical skills, developing industries”, the university stressed the pursuit of “culturing with the first-class code of conduct, pursuing for first-class learning, developing first-class enterprise, and cultivating the first-class talents”. Till 1920s to 1930s, it had developed to be a university with “science, engineering and management” as its distinctive disciplines and had been reputed as the “oriental MIT”. During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, a part of the university moved to the foreign Settlements in Shanghai and the other part moved to Chongqing in order to continue its education. To resist the aggression, many students quit their study and joined in the army. Before new China was founded in 1949, students and teachers had engaged in democratic revolution for establishing an independent nation, the university has been therefore honored as the “fortress of democracy”.

In 1956, the main part of Jiaotong University was relocated to Xi’an according to the decision of the State Council, and this relocated part of Jiaotong University was later officially renamed Xi’an Jiaotong University in 1959. In the same year, it was listed in one of the 16 key universities in China. In 2000, approved by the State Council, the former Xi’an Medical University and former Shaanxi Institute of Finance and Economics were merged with Xi’an Jiaotong University.

XJTU, as one of the first batch of the universities in China, was supported by the central Government at the seventh and eighth five-year plan, as well as China’s “Project 211” and “Project 985” to develop into a world-class university.Now, Xi’an Jiaotong University is on the List of World-class Universities and First-class Disciplines (abbreviated as “Double First-class”) released in 2017 by the Ministry of Education of China, as a Double First-class university in Category A, which means that the government will support it financially to develop into a world-class university, and its eight disciplines into the first-class level in the world.

Currently, XJTU is a comprehensive research university with 10 major categories of disciplines: science, engineering, medicine, economics, management, humanities, law, philosophy, education and art, and 26 schools (departments/centers), 9 university colleges for undergraduates and 20 affiliated teaching hospitals. The university offers 87 undergraduate majors, and there are 31 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctorate degrees, and there are 45 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master’s degrees, and 2 disciplines authorized to confer professional doctorate degrees, 20 disciplines authorized to confer professional master’sd egrees, and there are 25 post-doctoral research stations. According to the data released by the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) in May, 2019, 14 disciplines of XJTU are ranked top 1/100 among international academic institutions, 2 disciplines are ranked 1/1000 and the discipline of engineering is ranked top 1/10000 on the ESI list.

Chang’an University, or CHD, is a national key university. Under the direct leadership of the Ministry of Education, it is listed under Project 211，Project 985 Innovation Platform, and Double First-Class Project of China. Located in Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province, CHD has two campuses and three training bases, with a total area of 250 hectares.

In 1951, CHD was first built as Xi’an Highway University. Merged with Xi’an Engineering Institute and Northwest Institute of Construction Engineering, it was later renamed as Chang’an University in 2000.
